HQ 2022 & COVID

The grand opening of our Headquarters at 181 Central Park Square will take place on Saturday, August 27.

Our HQ is a wonderful office with an amazing location, but it does not have robust ventilation. We want to make the space as safe and inclusive as possible while we work to elect Democrats up and down the ballot. After consulting with some of our expert members and building on guidance from the CDC, we are following the practices outlined below for air filtration, masking, and contact tracing.  These practices may be updated at any time on the website or through notification at the office.  You can also find this information at losalamosdemocrats.org/HQ22_covid
We have acquired True HEPA air filtration units that exceed the square foot requirements of the space.  As weather allows, we may open the front and back doors to create more airflow.
When Los Alamos County transmission is "low," or "green," according to the CDC, masks will be optional in HQ. Please think about the safety of those sharing the space with you and mask if someone asks out of respect for our fellow volunteers.
When Los Alamos County transmission is "medium," or "yellow," we will strongly recommend masks. If you share a household with vulnerable individuals, are at high-risk yourself, or in a group setting with high-risk fellow volunteers, we encourage you to mask while in HQ. Again, please respect the needs of those in the space around you.
When Los Alamos County transmissions are "high," or "red," we will require masks in headquarters and may limit the number of volunteers in the building as appropriate.
Confidential Contact Tracing
To facilitate contact tracing, we have several sign-in sheets throughout Headquarters.  Please sign in with your name, phone number, email, and the date/time you were in HQ.
If you test positive for COVID within 48 hours of coming into the DPLAC headquarters, whether or not you were masked, we ask you to please inform the Chair at [email protected].
Without sharing your personal information, we will communicate a message with the following language to everyone who was at HQ on that day: "A person who later tested positive for COVID was in Democratic Party HQ for several hours on the afternoon of December 80th."  We can also help notify close contacts from your time at headquarters without disclosing the name of the person who tested positive.
If you prefer to avoid direct contact or relatively small spaces, there are many volunteer tasks you can do in a hybrid setting or from home (phone and text banking, postcards, or bringing food to HQ are just a few examples).  Let us know your needs, and we'll make sure you can be part of the team!
Los Alamos Democrats are committed to keeping our volunteers safe AND working to turn out voters and elect Democrats up and down the ballot.
